All Select Surrogates and Egg Donors Are Pre-Screened

The Select Surrogate agency receives hundreds of applications from women who want to become surrogate mothers or egg donors each month. We take great pride in our ability to select young women who would make good surrogates, from women who would make great surrogates.

After this exhaustive process, we find only a few who possess the selfless and giving nature that is so important for a quality surrogate mother.

Before we agree to help a surrogate on her path, we look at every aspect of her life, making sure they are truly ready, and would be a good fit. We make sure their background would lend itself well to this process. We take a close look at their physical and mental health, as well as their financial and legal history, as this information can be vital to understanding a surrogate candidate’s true motivations.

We also examine a potential surrogate’s home situation. We perform a stability assessment to make sure it’s stable, loving, and secure. We believe it’s very important that a Select Surrogate have a good home life during the pregnancy. Afterall, a healthy and stress-free pregnancy is the best way to give a child a strong foundation to grow.

Surrogates

Each of our surrogate candidates have been medically screened prior to joining our program. Each one has had their own pregnancy before and delivered without significant complication and many have been a surrogate previously for another couple, bringing valuable experience to this process. In addition to a thoughtful review of their medical records regarding all of their pregnancies, our surrogates are also examined by our own noted reproductive endocrinologist, to ensure overall fertility and health. Egg Donors

When using an egg donor, either from a relative or a donor found by this agency, The Select Surrogate is actively involved in the donor’s cycle, and stays informed of her progress. We also are careful to review the egg donor’s medical history, looking for anything that might point to poor/low egg quality/quantity, or any difficulty ovulating.

Sperm Donors

Whether we’re using sperm from an intended parent or sperm from a donor, it is examined for maximum fertility. We look at whether it’s normal, moves properly, and is in sufficient quantity.

Open Match Program

At The Select Surrogate, intended parents have the comfort of being able to meet and get to know a few potential surrogates prior to selecting one. A surrogate/intended parent relationship is a partnership, and we believe everyone in the partnership get along well and have a clear understanding of what is (and is not) expected.

There is no one-size-fits-all surrogate. Different parents have different needs. Some are traditional, others are more contemporary. That’s why at The Select Surrogate we make sure to have surrogate candidates available who are willing to meet a wide assortment of legal and personal preferences. Some of our surrogates are single, some are married, some practice a religion frequently, some not at all. Some are conservative, others liberal.

We recognize that intended parents come from many backgrounds, and so it’s important for any full service surrogate agency to excel at finding complementary surrogates. For any partnership to be successful, we believe trust and communication are key elements. Understanding where each other is coming from is the first step to establishing both of those.

Intended parents will have options, and so do surrogates. It’s a two-way street. So rest assured, whether your dream is to have a baby, or carry one for deserving parents, we will never arrange a meeting with someone wherein we suspect a lack of chemistry or compatibility.

Coordinating Gestational & Traditional Surrogacy

Once intended parents have selected a compatible surrogate through our agency, our talented staff with more than 25 years of combined experience will set to work arranging this very intricate process.

We will coordinate sperm collection, ovulation cycles of the egg donor, pre-pregnancy preparations for the surrogate, all at the same time, and all with outstanding communication with all parties, all along the way.

While The Select Surrogate will not help intended parents with choosing a “traditional” surrogate, we will help coordinate the surrogacy process with the same dedicated oversight as if we had matched one of our gestational surrogates. A traditional surrogate is a surrogate who uses her own eggs for the pregnancy, thereby creating a genetic link between her and the child. Some intended parents choose this route because they have a friend or family member who qualifies. A gestational surrogate is one where donated eggs are used, either from the intended parent or from someone else. Therefore, a gestational surrogate has no genetic link to the child whatsoever.

All of the surrogates pre-screened through The Select Surrogate program are gestational surrogates. However, we welcome intended parents who have chosen a traditional surrogate into our program at any time. View surrogate profiles from current Select Surrogates available!

Egg Donation Coordination

In addition to a quality surrogate, some intended parents require the use of donated eggs from a donor. In some cases, the intended mother can not produce a high enough quantity, or a good enough quality of eggs. In this instance, intended parents would turn to an egg donor.

When that intended parent is a single father, or a gay male couple, an egg donor is most certainly required.

Egg donors come in many shapes and sizes, with varying life experiences. Intended parents can often be particular about the physical attributes they want the donor to possess. Afterall, since the donor will be contributing 50% of the genetic make-up of their child, the wish for similar physical characteristics is not unusual.

Ethnicity, hair color, eye color, even religious faith, have all been reasons intended parents have chosen one egg donor over another. Sometimes non-physical characteristics come into play too, such as academic or athletic achievement, family background, musical aptitude, etc.

While in most cases the egg donors do remain anonymous, this kind of information is readily available, often with a clear photo of the donor.

The Select Surrogate’s trained and dedicated staff has significant experience identifying quality egg donors that match up as close as possible to the list of characteristics parents have.
