Select Surrogate's Egg Donor Program
Interested in becoming an egg donor? Please go to our dedicated egg donor information.
Intended parents may need to utilize an egg donor for one simple reason: they can not produce viable eggs for reproduction on their own. Sometimes the reason is obvious, as is the case with a gay male couple for example, and sometimes the reason is more subtle, like a biological issue with the intended mother that isn’t known until after a fertility examination.
When an egg donor is necessary, The Select Surrogate is ready to help. In addition to providing our own egg donors, we work with dozens of other well respected agencies to make sure intended parents have the donor who most closely matches their needs.
Some of the agencies we collaborate with are:
- Cori’s Egg Donor Services
- A Perfect Match
- Conceptual Options
- Extraordinary Conceptions
- Surrogate Alternatives
- Fertility Source Companies
- Surrogate Parenting Services
Picking The Right Egg Donor
For intended parents, a lot of emphasis should be placed on picking the right egg donor. Of course different intended parents have different demands.
Because a baby will share their egg donor’s genetic material, for some intended parents it is important the donor be as close a physical match (hair color, skin tone, eye color, ethnic background) as possible.
Other intended parents care less about physical attributes as they do academic or personal achievement and, in some cases, musical ability. Some intended parents with a strong basis in a particular religious tradition want an egg donor with a similar religious experience.
Still, some other parents will want a combination of many physical and non-physical characteristics.
Intended parents are often given a folder that contains a photograph of the egg donor and a survey they’ve completed that tells about them, their interests and background.
Once an egg donor is chosen, arrangements will be made by our experienced staff to begin this process.
Advantages of Choosing An Egg Donor With The Select Surrogate
When you choose an egg donor with The Select Surrogate, you will be treated with a level of respect and professionalism available only from a staff with more than 25 years combined experience in the fertility field.
You fertility treatment will be performed by the noted reproductive endocrinologist, Dr. Samuel Wood, who himself has a long and respected history of outstanding care.
The Qualifications of a Select Surrogate Egg Donor
To first be considered for our agency, egg donors must meet some basic requirements:
- Between 18 and 35 years old
- In excellent health
- Willing to undergo a specific fertility treatment regimen that includes injections, blood draws, and frequent office visits
- Supply academic transcripts and complete medical records
What to Expect During Your Egg Donation Cycle
Once a donor is chosen, fertility treatments are scheduled prior to an ovulation cycle.
Because women only normally produce one egg per ovulation cycle, drugs are administered to stimulate more egg production. These are often given in the form of hormone injections. At the end of the ovulation cycle, a surgical procedure requiring a mild anesthetic is performed to retrieve the eggs that have been produced.
Most often, intended parents will have very little, if any, contact with the egg donor. In many cases, but for a picture and background information, the donation is kept completely anonymous, to protect privacy.
If you wish to choose an egg donor from our database, please contact our office and one of our friendly staff will contact you as soon as possible. We look forward hearing from you!
